KAV Portola Helmet
The KAV Portola Helmet is 3D printed and customized to your exact measurements. Our proprietary carbon fiber copolymer blend ensures safety that exceeds all CPSC safety standards.
Each helmet begins with a fit kit (which we send to you after purchase) and a virtual one-on-one fit session to establish your custom helmet measurements. The result is, the best helmet Made For You–with no more pressure points, headaches, or dials to adjust.
At KAV we fit different. Our custom fit bike helmets are made-to-order for you. If after 30 days of receiving your 3D printed bike helmet it’s not the best fitting helmet you’ve ever experienced we will give a full refund.
Our crash replacement program has you covered. You receive a one-time 100% replacement of the same model during your entire five year warranty. Just send your helmet back to us so we can analyze it and make improvements if needed.
We have the best warranty in the industry. Other brands offer one year limited coverage and say you need to replace a helmet every three years, not us! Every 3D printed bike helmet is covered by a five-year warranty from the date of purchase.
FAQ
Why doesn't the KAV helmet have MIPS?
KAV has redesigned the bike helmet from the ground up. We have integrated the shearing component of MIPS into our helmets by the utilization of our proprietary Hex Energy Matrix build structure which is anisotropic. This structure allows the helmet to shear when needed or compress when needed based on the impact eliminating the need for both MIPS or an extra layer.
Why Hex and why it matters.
Our helmets are engineered with our proprietary Hex Energy Matrix pattern which has the most efficient energy absorption to weight ratio or crumple zone design to redistribute energy & force upon impact.
Is a 3D printed bike helmet safe?
Yes. The KAV Portola Helmet is at a minimum 25% more impact resistant than what is required by industry standards. The Portola helmet exceeds all CPSC safety standards, and our proprietary carbon fiber-reinforced copolymers are optimized for both rotational and linear forces.
What if I want to wear a cap or cut my hair, will my custom fit cycling helmet still fit?
We’re eliminating excess material with a custom fit cycling helmet. Your helmet will still have micro adjustments tailored perfectly to your head, giving you the ability to make it tight or looser.
